Approximately 300 million tons of paper are produced worldwide annually. The United States
is a disproportionate consumer of paper. Nearly 40 percent of our municipal landfill solid waste stream consists
of paper and paperboard. Reducing paper use and eliminating virgin paper is often the easiest step in reducing overall
consumption of wood products.
