Wood Uses - Packaging |
Packaging is a huge consumer of wood and as a disposable product, accounts for one third of municipal waste streams. Nearly half of packaging waste is paper and paperboard. Much of this paperboard is 100 percent virgin. Purchasers can significantly reduce packaging by buying products that come in returnable, reusable or refillable packaging. Purchasers can also work with suppliers to reduce or eliminate packaging altogether. European nations are actively implementing reduced packaging initiatives.
