Washington, DC - Resource Conservation Alliance (RCA) today praised Cornell University Press for the adoption of their environmentally preferable paper purchasing policies. Cornell University Press pledged to reduce office paper consumption by twenty-five percent and to publish their books on recycled and other environmentally preferable papers. "Cornell University Press has always been one of the leading university presses in terms of environmental responsibility," stated Leda Huta, RCA Director. "As one of the top ten university presses in size, its latest resolution to use environmentally preferable paper sends a message to the market that the demand for recycled paper is growing. We encourage other university presses to follow their example." Cornell University Press is working with Resource Conservation Alliance to spread the word to other university presses. The collaborative effort harnesses the purchasing power of a number of university presses to stimulate the market for papers that meet book publishing specifications and safeguard the environment.
