Alternatives - Industrial Hemp

Industrial hemp is a versatile fiber that can replace wood in most applications. It is the non-drug variety of Cannabis sativa. The United States does not allow farmers to commercially grow the crop in this country, but does allow the manufacture of hemp products. Most other industrialized countries successfully grow and manufacture industrial hemp.

The United States economy, environment, and national security would greatly benefit from the re-introduction of industrial hemp in domestic agriculture and manufacturing.
